As we prepare for upcoming holiday breaks, it’s the perfect time to unwind with a good read or an engaging listen. Did you know that you can request specific ebooks and audiobooks to be added to our collection in Libby? Whether you’re looking for popular fiction, professional development, or titles to support your course curriculum, we want to know what would be most useful for you and your students.

Here are a few suggestions to consider:

  • Course-Related Titles: Enhance your curriculum with ebooks or audiobooks that complement your syllabus. Let us know if there are specific textbooks, novels, or supplementary materials you'd like to see.
  • Leisure Reads: Recommend popular fiction, biographies, or non-fiction works you’ve been meaning to read during the break.
  • Professional Development: Suggest titles on teaching strategies, industry insights, or leadership to support your own learning and growth.

Share your wishlist with us, and we’ll do our best to accommodate requests before the holidays. Happy reading (or listening)!

Check out the first episode of our library’s Lightning Talk series, now available on Blackboard: Coastal Library > Lightning Talks. In this episode, librarians Ashley and Heather dive into the introduction of American Like Me by America Ferrera.

We’re organizing more lightning talks centered on American Like Me, and we’d love for you to be a part of it! The discussion will explore themes of identity and culture, and we’re eager to hear your insights, especially as they relate to your discipline, subject area, or personal background.

The talks will be prerecorded and shared with students on Blackboard. If you’re interested, please also consider inviting two of your students (excluding Early College and Career & College Promise students) to join the conversation. Feel free to prepare a few questions to help steer the discussion if you’d like.

For inspiration, check out the OBOC Guide, created by Ashley. It features contributor profiles that might help you find stories that align with your expertise.

Let us know if you’d like to participate!
