The purpose of this section is to help you with the different citation styles assigned by your instructors.

Any time you use the information you learned from another source, you need to cite it in your paper.
What is a citation? Citations allows others to be able to consult the original source of information and verify it for accuracy and reliability. In-text or parenthetical citations within the body of your paper are a combination of author(s), dates, and possibly page numbers depending on the citation style.
Failure to properly attribute sources can result in plagiarism, which has serious consequences for your academic career.
Did you know?
All of the databases have Citation Tools that may say "Cite" or may show you quotation marks. Use these to guide you. Always check these citations against a manual like The Little Seagull.
MLA: Gives priority to the author or authority
APA: Gives priority to the date
Chicago: The use of footnotes helps the reader digest the information they're reading first.
