ENG 111-112: Piner Research Essay

Welcome

What is an annotated bibliography?
A list of resources in MLA format (or another format) in alphabetical order that include your annotation (review, opinion, assess, reflect). Think: why is this a good source?

What is a research paper?
A research paper is a paper that puts forth an idea that you back with articles, data, and information found in reliable sources. This is why your instructor is asking you to use library databases.

Where do I begin?
Begin with a topic of your choice. Essay 3 explains that you will be researching the context surrounding a piece of pop culture (music, TV, song, album). BRAINSTORM all that you know about this topic and then make a list of what you need to find.

Research is like a map.
It helps to know where you are at (what do you know?) and then to map your path (what do you want to know or find?). These words will become your keywords for research in the databases.

What is a database?
A database is a collection of sources (eBooks, articles, reports, and more) that have been digitized so that they may be found easily. Our largest database is the OneSearch bar on the library's front page! It searches across ALL of our databases (over 100).
